VOTING HAS NOW CLOSED!

Derbyshire’s vote for the All-Time Twenty20 side is well underway, with some positions at the moment separated by only one vote!

We take a closer look at the all-rounders and wicket-keepers who have a chance of being selected in the All-Time XI, from players such as all-time leading wicket taker Alex Hughes, to leading dismissals holder Brooke Guest. Register for Blast Pass!

All-rounders that have made the shortlist are players such as Matt Critchley, who sits third on the list of wicket takers with 55, as well as joint eighth for the most runs, with 930.

Hughes appeared for the Falcons 100 times during his Derbyshire career, claiming 60 wickets with his canny medium pace and also scored 957 runs.

Ant Botha is also on the shortlist for all-rounders, with his 27 wickets coming at a very impressive average of 20.96. He is also one of two players to have claimed four or more wickets in a T20 game for the Falcons.

Considering Botha played in the early years of the format, he could have had an excellent career for the Falcons in the modern era with more matches.

Recently retired Mattie McKiernan claimed best figures of 3-9 with the ball, amongst his 32 dismissals in a Falcons career spanning from 2018.

In terms of the ’keepers, Guest is joined on the list alongside Daryn Smit, Tom Poynton, James Pipe and Luke Sutton.

’Keeper Guest averaged 56.75 last season with the bat, and has a total of 620 runs to his name since his Falcons debut in 2020.

Guest sits top of the pile contributing to 33 dismissals, 28 of which were caught.

However, Sutton has claimed the most stumpings as ’keeper, with his 12 just one more than Poynton and Pipe on 11.

Smit has been regarded as one of the best glovemen to represent the Falcons in recent years, but he was also able to add valuable lower order runs, with an average just under 30.

From Scorpions to Phantoms and Falcons, Derbyshire have had some brilliant Twenty20 players, including individuals from all across the world. Ahead of next season, we will announce Derbyshire’s greatest Twenty20 side, drawn up from players who have made outstanding contributions for the county.

For each position, there are different players available to choose from, including their Derbyshire statistics in this format. There is also an option to select the captain of your greatest Derbyshire T20 side, and put forward a ‘twelfth man’ – it maybe somebody you couldn’t quite squeeze into your side, or a player who you think is deserving to be in the original lists!
