The penultimate match of the 2022 season will live long in the memory of new Club Captain, David Lloyd, as well as Derbyshire supporters who witnessed a remarkable innings in September 2022.
Lloyd scored a mammoth 313 not out, the highest first class score by a Glamorgan captain, as he plundered 44 boundaries against players this season he will regard as teammates and friends.

It was also the second highest score by a Glamorgan player and the best score posted by a Welsh-born player, surpassing the 299 made by Mike Powell.
Lloyd was asked to bat first after losing the toss on a green-tinged pitch, opening alongside Eddie Byrom.
The outcome of the next two days and Lloyd’s masterclass were hard to envisage after the all-rounder had been averaging in the mid-20s all season with a high score of 84.
However, Derbyshire endured a difficult start to the match, losing Ben Aitchison with an ankle issue three balls into the game. Anuj Dal replaced Aitchison in what would be a tough few days for the Derbyshire bowlers.
The right-handed batter reached his fifty off 79 balls just before lunch, looking composed and assured at the crease before reaching his century before tea.
It had been a knock full of class and it really epitomised Lloyd’s character of hard work, positivity and a putting a shift in for his side.
Lloyd’s day would get even better as he passed his previous high score of 121 before reaching the close of play by passing the 200 mark.
His second century came off just 101 balls as the Derbyshire bowlers just could not find a way to remove Lloyd from the crease.
Day Two did see Derbyshire produce a chance, as Lloyd top edged a sweep off Alex Thomson to substitute fielder Nafis Shaikh, only for the simple chance to be put down with the batter on 258.
He made this chance count as the right-hander reached his 300 by depositing Thomson back over his head for six, before declaring with his individual score on 313.
This equalled the highest individual score at Sophia Gardens, scored by South African Jimmy Cook.
With Lloyd now part of the Derbyshire squad, the Club have a great leader, all-rounder and player capable of producing wonderful knocks at the crease and this value and excitement will certainly be something to look forward to for supporters in 2024.
