England secure series win over New Zealand

Wednesday 27th March 2024
& News

England secured an unassailable 3-1 lead over New Zealand in the ongoing IT20 series, as Maia Bouchier and Charlie Dean starred in a 47-run victory at Wellington.

England went into the game knowing victory would secure the series, and they produced a dominant display to claim it, with Bouchier striking 91 off just 56 balls for the tourists, who posted 177-3.

As New Zealand looked to reply, Dean took centre stage, claiming four wickets, including the crucial dismissal of the dangerous Amelia Kerr, as England restricted the hosts to 130-7.

The series against New Zealand is England’s final one before the start of the English summer schedule, which will begin against Pakistan. The side will return to Derby for their first home ODI of the year on Thursday 23 May, with tickets on sale now.

The likes of Nat Sciver-Brunt, Sophie Ecclestone and plenty more of the world’s best players will be in action in the East Midlands, while the Derbyshire-born duo of Glenn and Heath will be looking to make an impact in their home county, as England look to create more memorable moments at The County Ground.
