England Women got their IT20 series against New Zealand off to the perfect start, with a 27-run victory at Dunedin.

Captain Heather Knight top-scored with 63, while Maia Bouchier hit 43 from 40 balls, as England posted 160-4 from their 20 overs, before the hosts fell well short of the target with 133-5, despite 65 from skipper Suzie Bates.

Derbyshire Women & Girls Pathway graduates, Sarah Glenn and Bess Heath, both featured, with Glenn claiming an impressive 1-17, with the dismissal of Georgia Plimmer becoming her 65th IT20 wicket in 55 matches.

The second IT20 will take place on Friday 22 March at 1am UK time and will be broadcast live on TNT Sports.

The series against New Zealand is England’s final one before the start of the English summer schedule, which will begin against Pakistan. The side will return to Derby for their first home ODI of the year on Thursday 23 May, with tickets on sale now.

The likes of Nat Sciver-Brunt, Sophie Ecclestone and plenty more of the world’s best players will be in action in the East Midlands, while the Derbyshire-born duo of Glenn and Heath will be looking to make an impact in their home county, as England look to create more memorable moments at The County Ground.
