Derbyshire Second Team Coach & Head of Analytics, Chris Highton, has been named Head Coach of the England Physical Disability squad.

Highton, who has been with the Club since 2021, leads the Second XI, while also overseeing the development of the Analysis department, from Pathway to first team.

He will remain in his role with Derbyshire alongside his new venture, which will see him take over the England Physical Disability side, having previously held the position in an interim capacity between 2020 and 2022.

As well as providing full-time analyst and coaching support for all for England Disability squads between 2018 and 2022, Highton was also appointed as an Assistant Coach for the England Deaf squad, in preparation for the 2023 Deaf World Cup, before the tournament was postponed.

On his appointment, Highton said: “It’s a real honour for me to be named Head Coach of the England Physical Disability team, and to have the opportunity to work with a group of really talented and hard working players.

“Cricket is a sport for everyone, and we have seen huge growth in the disability game, and we want to continue growing the game at all levels, to create a solid foundation for the development of our national setup.

“I thank Derbyshire for providing a platform which allows coaches to continue their development alongside their roles at the Club, and I remain committed leading our Second XI side and developing our young players for the first team environment.”
