Pre-Match Pack: Glamorgan (A)

Derbyshire have named a 13-player squad for their Vitality County Championship fixture against Glamorgan, starting at Sophia Gardens (11am). 

Captain David Lloyd, and batter Aneurin Donald, return to face their former county, with both hoping to make their first-class debuts for the Club, alongside New Zealand fast bowler, Blair Tickner.

Having scored centuries in all four of his red ball innings against Glamorgan last season, Luis Reece will be aiming to play a key role once again, after he and opening partner Harry Came put on a Club-record opening stand of 360 against the Welsh county last season.

The Opposition

Few players started the Vitality County Championship season in as good form as Glamorgan’s Sam Northeast, who enjoyed a record-breaking innings against Middlesex. 

Northeast, who two years ago scored a career-best 410 not out against Leicestershire, set a new highest-score by an individual player at Lord’s, by striking an unbeaten 335 at the Home of Cricket.

It was not a game where bowlers were on top, as both sides scored more than 600 runs each in the first innings, but Kiran Carlson’s three wickets will give Glamorgan food for thought, as the Kookaburra ball gets older.
