Pre-Match Pack: Yorkshire (A)

Derbyshire have named a 12-player squad for their Vitality County Championship fixture against Yorkshire, starting tomorrow at Headingley (11am). 

Mickey Arthur’s side are looking to build on an unbeaten start to the 2024 season, and Wayne Madsen will be key to that aim, having scored 147 runs at an average of 49 so far.

Sam Conners will miss the game at Leeds due to a groin issue, which is being managed by the Club’s Medical Team, and new overseas signing, Daryn Dupavillon, is due to be available from the Vitality County Championship game against Sussex next week, after he fulfils his domestic obligations with Dolphins in South Africa.

The Opposition

Yorkshire have endured a tough start to the season, but their star-studded lineup of international cricketers will present a stern test for anyone Division Two. 

Pakistan Test captain, and former Derbyshire batter, Shan Masood and Adam Lyth are both likely to be included in the top three, while England’s Harry Brook and Joe Root are both available for the fixture.

Matthew Fisher, Ben Coad and Matt Milnes remains one of the most potent seam attacks in county cricket, with Coad the joint-leading wicket-taker in Division Two with 13, alongside Derbyshire’s Alex Thomson.
