England and Pakistan name squads for ODI series

England Women and Pakistan Women have named their squads ahead of the Metro Bank One-Day Interational at The County Ground on Thursday 23 May. 

Having overcome India and New Zealand over the winter, England return to Derby this month, for their first home 50-over action of the year, with tickets on sale now.

England captain, Heather Knight, has a strong squad to choose from, with the Derbyshire-born, Sarah Glenn included, having featured in the successful tour of New Zealand in March, while the number-one ranked white ball bowler on earth, Sophie Ecclestone, could also feature at Derby.

Derbyshire Women and Girls Pathway graduate, Bess Heath, has been named in the squad for England’s Vitality IT20 series against Pakistan, which begins next week.

Nida Dar will lead Pakistan squad of 17 throughout their IT20 and ODI series in England, with the tourists looking to fill the gap left by the retirement of legendary all-rounder, Bismah Maroof. One candidate to take on the run-scoring burden may be big-hitting wicketkeeper-batter, Muneeba Ali, who already has an ODI century to her name, while also being the first Pakistani Woman to score an international T20 century.

The fixture will begin at 1pm, meaning there will be plenty of cricket to be watched after school, with a great range of group discounts available, from five adults to large groups, local clubs and schools.
