Pre-Match Pack: Birmingham Bears (A)

Derbyshire Falcons have named an unchanged 15-player squad for tomorrow’s Vitality Blast fixture against Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston (2.30pm).  

The Falcons will be aiming to maintain their unbeaten streak, having overcome Leicestershire Foxes and Yorkshire Vikings last weekend and also picking up a point from Thursday’s washed out clash against Lancashire Lightning.

It is the Falcons’ second visit to Edgbaston this season, having defeated the Foxes by four wickets at Blast Off earlier in the campaign.

The Opposition

Birmingham Bears sit top of the North group table having claimed eight wins in the competition so far.

Ever-reliable Sam Hain leading the Bears’ batting averages, with 409 runs at 58.4 this season.

All-time Blast leading wicket-taker Danny Briggs is once again having a good campaign, having claimed 19 wickets at just 13.36.

Moeen Ali is also available for the Bears, after re-joining the county side following the conclusion of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Pre-Match Talk

Wicketkeeper-batter, Brooke Guest, spoke to Club Media after Thursday’s abandonment at The County Ground.

Guest is keen for the Falcons to continue their recent success, and sees no reason why the Bears should stop the momentum, having completed the double over the Edgbaston-based side last year.

The point gained briefly moved the Falcons into the top four, however results on Friday night meant Derbyshire moved back into sixth. With how tight the table is however, a win would see the Falcons move back into quarter-final contention.
