Derbyshire have named a 13-player squad for their Metro Bank One-Day Cup opener against Northamptonshire Steelbacks at The County Ground, Northampton, tomorrow (11am).
New 50-over captain, Ross Whiteley, will captain the side, while all-rounders Samit Patel, David Lloyd and Luis Reece provide an experienced core for the side.
Pathway products, Harry Moore, Yousaf Bin Naeem, Mitch Wagstaff, Nick Potts and Sam Conners are all named in the squad and will be aiming to get the team off to a strong start at Wantage Road.
Alex Thomson has suffered a significant side strain and will now begin his recovery period with the Club’s Medical Team, which is expected to last at least a month, Daryn Dupavillon (minor ankle issue) also misses out, while Anuj Dal remains absent due to personal reasons.
Pat Brown, Aneurin Donald and Wayne Madsen are all away with their respective franchises in The Hundred.

The Opposition
Northamptonshire Steelbacks will be hoping India batter, Prithvi Shaw, can produce spellbinding knocks in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup this season, after he scored two centuries in four innings last season.
With the ball, the likes of Ben Sanderson, Luke Proctor and Rob Keogh will be key, having combined for 25 wickets in last year’s competition.
