2024/25 Boys Player Pathway Observation Process

Monday 2nd September 2024

Derbyshire County Cricket Club is excited to welcome submissions by video showing examples of batting, bowling and wicket keeping skills in the following age groups for the upcoming academic year, U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, U16 and U18 (School years 5 –13).

PLEASE NOTE: If you have been part of another county’s pathway programme in the past year, you will need to submit a letter of release from that county along with your video application.

Submissions will be on a self-nominated basis and videos should be emailed by an adult (parent/guardian, this does not have to come from a club coach) to [email protected].

Videos can be practice or match based and should clearly evidence the player’s primary skill. Please submit additional videos if players are multi-disciplined i.e. both bat and bowl or both bat and keep wicket.

The cut-off date for video submissions is close of play on Monday 30th September 2024. You will receive an automated email confirming receipt of your submission, however, please do not contact us regarding outcomes. The footage will be viewed and assessed by the Head of Talent Pathway and/or a specialist coach who will look for both current readiness and future potential in each technical skill set. Successful applicants will be invited to an extended trial over 3 weeks at the County Ground at Derbyshire County Cricket Club for stage II observations at the beginning of November.

Successful applicants will receive an email inviting them to stage II observations. At this point, we will collect additional data and personal information. Unsuccessful applicants will receive an email informing them that they have not been successful at this time. Please do not expect an email of the outcome until the first week of October once applications have closed. Feedback currently will not be given to unsuccessful applicants.

Removing Bias

To remove bias from the process, we will request as little information as possible at this point. We want our coaches assessing players submissions knowing only what age group they are in. We do not want any names or club/school information at this stage. In the subject bar of your email please state the players date of birth and age group for 2025. Please clarify in the email if your son is the batter/bowler or wicketkeeper if the videos have more than one player in them.

Submitted videos will be safely held on password protected systems with Derbyshire County Cricket Club.

Players who have represented Derbyshire this summer are not required to submit footage, they will be contacted separately.
