Derbyshire are thrilled to announce the signing of opening batter Caleb Jewell. Here, we take a look at Caleb’s career so far.
An all-formats player, left-hander Jewell has amassed nearly 5,000 career runs, with 10 centuries to his name.
Jewell registered his highest-ever score earlier this year, smashing Western Australia’s bowling attack as he made 227 off 319 balls back in February.
Playing for Hobart Hurricanes during the Big Bash League, Jewell has made 51 appearances to date, with his best campaign coming in BBL 12. The opener scored 289 runs, striking at 144, with three fifties.
An opening batter who looks to dominate bowling lineups, Jewell has started to be recognised as having potential for Australian selection, after impressing in the past few years for his domestic side Tasmania and in Australia A matches.
Jewell has recently been playing club cricket in England, representing Doncaster Town CC in the Yorkshire Cricket Southern Premier League.
A good slip fielder and outfielder in limited-overs cricket, Jewell will be a welcome addition as the side push for success across all formats in 2025.
Tasmania’s domestic campaign has recently started, with Jewell looking to impress before his stint in England with Derbyshire.
