Cricket Derbyshire Academy graduates, Mitch Wagstaff and Nick Potts, have signed new contracts with the Club.

A leg-spin bowling all-rounder, Wagstaff has penned a two-year deal, keeping him at Derbyshire until the end of the 2026 season, while fast bowler Potts has signed a one-year contract.

Potts, 22, played in one Vitality County Championship fixture in 2024, as well as claiming 14 wickets in the Second XI T20 competition, at an average of 15.92.

Wagstaff featured across all formats this summer, making his T20 debut in the Blast Off fixture against Leicestershire Foxes at Edgbaston.

Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, said: “Mitch and Nick are two promising young players who have impressed us with their work rate through the summer.

“Nick has struggled with a few injury issues in 2024, but we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do next summer as he continues to develop.

“With Mitch, we’re excited to keep working with him on his all-round game. His leg spin is coming along really nicely and can be an asset to us in all formats, while his batting continues to go from strength to strength.”
