Members of the Derbyshire squad and coaching staff have been playing in various parts of the globe over the past few weeks. Here, we catch up to see how everyone has been getting on.
Caleb Jewell
Left-handed opener Caleb Jewell registered his highest T20 score, with a Player of the Match innings of 76 off 49 balls last Thursday.
Jewell’s Hobart Hurricanes finished top of the Big Bash table, meaning they will face Sydney Sixers tomorrow for a place in the final. If they fall to defeat however, they will have another opportunity to qualify in the Challenger on Friday.
Blair Tickner & Ben Smith
Tickner’s Central Stags are having a good Super Smash campaign to date, sitting second in the table with a game in hand. Coached by Derbyshire’s batting coach, Ben Smith, the Stags look well placed to qualify for the knockout stages with three games to go.
Tickner is having an excellent campaign across all formats in New Zealand domestic cricket, leading the wicket charts in T20 (13 at 19.76) and List-A (11 at 17.09). In first-class cricket, the fast bowler has claimed 13 wickets at 22.30, putting him only three wickets off the top, having played one game less.
Mickey Arthur
In charge of Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League, Arthur’s side have had an exceptional campaign so far. Following on from Global Super League success in 2024, Rangpur have continued their winning form in this year’s BPL, with eight straight wins in an unbeaten campaign so far.
Arthur’s side look well set to qualify for the business end of the competition, which starts in early February.
Harry Moore
Moore is currently in South Africa with England Under 19s, following a trip to the same country with England Lions last year.
Moore has picked up three wickets at 16 so far and with the Youth ODI series level at one apiece, England will be hoping for victory in the deciding fixture on Wednesday.
Pat Brown
On England Lions duty in Australia, Brown has so far featured in the sole four day fixture, as well as gaining good experience and coaching with a red ball in different conditions.
The Lions are back in action on Wednesday against a Cricket Australia XI.
Overseas Club Cricket
Harry Came has once again linked up with Claremont Cricket Club in South Africa and will be looking to get some valuable time in the middle before returning to The County Ground at the end of March.
Jack Morley continues to have a good campaign at Mont Albert Cricket Club, with 26 wickets at 16.31 to his name. His side are currently second in the table and will face table-toppers Old Carey in the final fixture of the season.
Nick Potts has returned to The County Ground after his stint at Glenorcy Cricket Club, as he prepares for the 2025 season.
Fresh off the back of a half-century this weekend, Luis Reece is closing in on 500 runs for the season at Gosnells Cricket Club. With the ball, the left-armer has claimed 26 wickets at 19.31 and with the side sat mid table, they will be hoping for a strong finish to the season.
Mitch Wagstaff has returned to action after a finger issue sustained before Christmas but unfortunately Sutherland’s fixture due to take place over the last two weekend’s was abandoned.
