As we gear up for the 2025 Vitality Blast, we take a weekly look at an iconic Friday Night Falcons T20 moment at The County Ground. First up, the 96-run victory over Notts Outlaws in 2024.
The Falcons had endured a losing run against their local rivals, until the returning Ross Whiteley, more than ten years after he departed the county, took centre stage to claim bragging rights.
First, he struck 46 off just 16 balls to shift the momentum firmly in favour of Samit Patel’s Falcons, before claiming career-best figures of 3-23, with Pat Brown and Daryn Dupavillon also chipping in with three wickets apiece.
The 96-run win the Falcons biggest over Notts Outlaws and they will be hoping to show similar dominance when the two sides meet on Friday 6 June at The County Ground.

Mickey Arthur’s Falcons will host Notts Outlaws in the East Midlands Derby on Friday 6 June at The County Ground, as part of a double-header with The Blaze also taking on Essex earlier in the day.
The second Friday Night Falcons fixture of the summer takes place on Friday 20 June, as Lancashire Lightning come to Derby, before we finish our North Group schedule against Birmingham Bears on Friday 18 June, with Derbyshire Falcons Women also facing Northamptonshire as part of a second double-header.
