Derbyshire Falcons have named a 15-player squad for their opening Vitality Blast fixture of 2025 against Leicestershire Foxes, which takes place tomorrow (6.30pm). 

Young Afghanistan star Mohammad Ghazanfar will have the opportunity to make his debut for the Falcons, as Samit Patel’s side aim to keep Derbyshire unbeaten across all formats this summer.

Aneurin Donald returns to a Derbyshire squad for the first time since recovering from a shoulder issue, after impressing in his first season as a Falcon in 2024.

The Opposition

The Foxes are boosted by the arrival of overseas recruit, Shan Masood, for the 2025 Vitality Blast.

Masood scored 555 runs across 15 matches in 2022 for the Falcons, with Derbyshire supporters familiar with his talent from his stint in the East Midlands.

Leicestershire are under new leadership this season, with Louis Kimber installed as T20 captain in the off-season. The all-rounder recently smashed 153 off 75 balls in a Second XI T20 warm-up fixture against Lancashire.
