Derbyshire County Cricket Club is sad to announce the death of David Booth, a long-standing supporter, official and sponsor.

Heritage Officer David Griffin, who served alongside David, offers this tribute.

David Booth was a local man with local interests in sport and business, as well as being a family man.

In March 2008 he was elected to the Derbyshire committee where his business experience proved to be invaluable and when the committee structure was replaced by a slimmed-down supervisory board of six in 2013, David filled the newly-created position of Business Development Director.

David continued to serve on the board until 2017 at which point he stepped down and was appointed Vice President, while his business, Office Care Limited, have been a sponsor of the county club for many years.

A quiet and reflective man who regularly brought calm and sage advice amidst the occasional hurly-burly of meetings, he was always good company outside the committee room too and confided in those closest to him how proud he was to have served his county club on the committee and then board.

David, who was 75, is survived by his wife Ann, son Martin and daughter Joanne and four grandchildren.

Everyone connected with Derbyshire County Cricket Club extends their condolences to David’s family and friends.
