Fast bowler, Rory Haydon, has signed a three-year deal with Derbyshire, after impressing in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup.

Haydon, 22, impressed during his five List A appearances in August with his pace and accuracy, particularly with the new ball. He claimed six wickets, including best figures of 3-59 against Worcestershire Rapids at Repton School.

The seamer follows Amrit Basra in committing his future to the Club, with both players having initially signed for the duration of the One-Day Cup, before penning longer deals.

He will be available for the final three Rothesay County Championship fixtures of the season, and will be staying with the Club until the end of the 2028 season.

Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, said: “Rory has been very impressive during his time with us so far. He has shown no fear when going up against experienced batting lineups and he is a welcome addition to our red ball attack.

“He has great ability, but it’s Rory’s potential which excites us most. He will have a full winter to continue his development as part of our squad. We have seen off interest from other counties to secure his future and we look forward to seeing him go from strength to strength.”

Haydon added: “I’m really pleased to have signed this deal and I’m looking forward to working with the squad for the remainder of the season and beyond.

“It’s a great group of players, I’ve loved my time with the Club so far and I can’t wait to get back out there and show what I can do across all formats.”
