2024 overseas signing, Mohammad Amir, has been drafted for the seventh edition of Abu Dhabi T10, scheduled to be played from 28th November to 9th December 2023.
The left-armer has been selected by his new side New York Strikers, last edition’s runners-up, where he will play alongside the likes of West Indies stars Sunil Narine and Kieron Pollard as well as England international Will Jacks. The 31-year-old was a pre-signing before the draft took place, alongside Narine and fellow countryman Shoaib Malik.
Amir makes the move from Bangla Tigers, where he has spent the last two years, as the Pakistan seamer searches for his first title in the franchise tournament.
In this fast-paced format cricket league, Amir has claimed five wickets over the last two seasons for the Tigers, but missed a large portion of the 2021 campaign due to illness. The T10 format tests both bowlers and batters to adapt, and Amir is certainly capable of this with his array of tricks and slower balls in his armoury.
The seven team franchise tournament will be played at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, in the United Arab Emirates, as the ten overs-a-side format continues to grow and expand across the globe.
