As the County domestic season approaches, the Derbyshire players overseas are approaching the business end of their seasons, with trophies on the line to be won. We will recap how everyone has been getting on over the past couple of gameweeks.
Mohammad Amir
Amir is participating in the ILT20 for Desert Vipers, where he has claimed one wicket in three matches so far.
Opening the bowling alongside fellow Pakistan seamer and left-armer Shaheen Shah Afridi, the pair have bowled economically, but the side are yet to find consistency with the bat and also in the middle overs with the ball.
The Vipers have one win in four so far, but have a chance to change their form with a run of four games in six days.
Pat Brown
The seamer enjoyed his first taste of silverware this winter, with T20 trophy success on Sunday. His side were boosted by the availability of Spencer Johnson and Jordan Buckingham for this fixture, and the side put in a brilliant all-round performance to seal the victory.
West Torrens defeated Glenelg by 130 runs, with Brown claiming 1 for 7 off his two overs, as Glenelg could only muster 67 in reply to 197 for 4.
This Sunday sees Brown in another knockout limited overs match, a semi-final in the West End One-Day Cup versus Tea Tree Gully.
Harry Came
Came has posted scores of 20 off 33 balls and 32 off 42 balls in his past two matches.
Claremont were in the pursuit of the league title, however back-to-back losses has seen them slip down to sixth in the table, but a win this week could see them close the gap on opponents Durbanville in fourth.
Sam Conners
Conners continues to play in New Zealand at Napier Marist Old Boys Cricket Club. Over the past few weeks, Conners claimed figures of 1 for 13 off three overs in a T20 game before not being required to bowl in this weekend’s round of games.
Aneurin Donald
Donald’s South African adventure saw him face Harry Came’s Claremont Cricket Club, with Donald and his teammates coming out on the winning side. The wicketkeeper-batter claimed the catch of Came before scoring 8 off 19 balls in a four-wicket victory. This week saw Donald out without scoring at the top of the order.
Rondebosch currently sit second in the table, six points behind leaders Western Province Cricket Club.
Wayne Madsen
Unfortunately for Madsen, he had been made to wait for his chance to perform for the Joburg Super Kings, having only made a sole appearance for the franchise so far.
Madsen was back in the XI yesterday for the Super Kings, however he was not required to bat as Joburg chased 98 in just 5.4 overs to win by 10 wickets.
Samit Patel
All-rounder Patel is currently vying his trade in the Bangladesh Premier League for side Sylhet Strikers. In his first match of the BPL 2024, Patel returned brilliant figures of 3 for 16 off his allocation, alongside five with the bat.
In his most recent game, the left-armer produced another tidy spell, this time 0 for 22 off his four overs.
Mitch Wagstaff
Wagstaff produced his highest score of the winter so far, falling narrowly short of a century after being run-out on 93. The left-hander was at the crease for 144 balls, with his knock comprising of four fours and five sixes.
He followed this up with a bowling return of 2-1-2-0 this weekend as the fixture resumed, with Rockingham Mandurah unfortunately losing by three wickets.
