Derbyshire’s Sarah Glenn played a key role as England Women secured a 15-run victory over New Zealand to take a 2-0 lead in the IT20 series.
Glenn, who was joined in the lineup by fellow Derbyshire Women & Girls’ Pathway graduate, Bess Heath, struck 13 from just six balls late in the innings, before she claimed 1-21 from four overs and ran out Bernadine Bezuidenhout.
Heather Knight was England’s standout batter once again, as she scored an unbeaten 56 from 40 balls, the only player to pass 50 in the match. Charlie Dean and Lauren Bell each claimed two wickets as England moved within one victory of a series win in New Zealand.
The series against New Zealand is England’s final one before the start of the English summer schedule, which will begin against Pakistan. The side will return to Derby for their first home ODI of the year on Thursday 23 May, with tickets on sale now.
The likes of Nat Sciver-Brunt, Sophie Ecclestone and plenty more of the world’s best players will be in action in the East Midlands, while the Derbyshire-born duo of Glenn and Heath will be looking to make an impact in their home county, as England look to create more memorable moments at The County Ground.
Reserved seating is available to book in the Family Zone, with the game starting at 1pm, you can secure your place for after school as we approach the dramatic climax of England Women vs Pakistan in white ball action. Group discounts are also available, for bookings of five or more adults.
