A former Derbyshire player for almost a decade and a member of the 2012 County Championship Division Two title-winning side, Tom Poynton has a deep and current understanding of the professional game.
A Derbyshire Academy graduate who played England age-group cricket before progressing to Second XI and finally First XI honours, Poynton understands the challenges and opportunities facing the Club and its players on and off the field.
Poynton’s support of grassroots cricket is reflected in his previous volunteer committee roles at Swarkestone Cricket Club and the Derbyshire County Cricket Leagues. As a PCA Panel Member of the Cricket Discipline Commission, he has furthered his commitment to upholding the integrity of the sport.
Away from cricket, he has developed a successful career in financial advice and investment management. He holds an Executive Director position at an FCA-regulated investment management business, a role which provides him with a strong foundation in governance, risk and financial management, and strategic business planning.
