Derbyshire have named a 15-player squad for their Metro Bank One-Day Cup fixture against Somerset at The Cooper Associates County Ground tomorrow (11am).

Anuj Dal, David Lloyd and Harry Moore all starred in the stunning win over Somerset at Taunton, with the former scoring an exceptional century on his return to action. All three have made the trip down to Southampton, with Derbyshire aiming to make it five wins out six Group A fixtures.

Ross Whiteley has joined up with the squad for the game against Hampshire, having been released by Welsh Fire, and could be in contention to make his second appearance in the competition.

With the group stage approaching the business end, Derbyshire know positive results are crucial for their push for the knockout stages, with Mickey Arthur’s side top of the group.

The Opposition

Hampshire have won three of their opening four Metro Bank One-Day Cup games, with a defeat to Kent their only blip so far.

Felix Organ, Ben Brown and Toby Albert are all averaging 49 or above with the bat, while the experienced seam trio of Brad Wheal, John Turner and Kyle Abbott have combined for 16 wickets already.

Pre-Match Talk

All-rounder, Anuj Dal, believes keeping a cool head was key to Derbyshire’s win over Somerset.

Dal scored 115 off just 75 balls, while he and David Lloyd combined for 145 runs for the sixth wicket, which brought Derbyshire back into the contest after a tricky start to the run chase.

He was also still at the crease when 17-year-old Harry Moore arrived at the crease, with the Pathway graduate guiding Derbyshire to victory at Taunton.

The all-rounder says pacing the chase and focussing on taking the game into the final overs was crucial to Derbyshire’s victory on Sunday, and he praised the work of Lloyd and Moore.

“When David Lloyd and I came together we recognised that we needed one big partnership,” he said.

“Lloydy was finding it tough that I was running him ragged at times, but it got him going and gave us real intent in that middle period.

“We took it fifty runs at a time and he played brilliantly. We kept saying to each other that you never know what might happen if we took the game deep.

“I knew when he was out that I had to up my tempo a bit, but it helps that we bat right down to number 11. I had every confidence in the guys coming in and Harry Moore is a born match-winner.”
