Fast bowler, Sam Conners, will leave Derbyshire at the end of the 2024 season, after turning. down a new deal with the Club

Conners, 25, made his first team debut in 2019 and has gone on to make 90 all formats appearances, claiming 167 wickets. He will depart the Club at the end of the current season, having expressed a desire to seek a new challenge elsewhere.

Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, said: “Sam is a popular member of the squad, and I’ve enjoyed working with him during my time at Derbyshire, but respect his decision to move on.

“We’ve got a good balance to the squad and when it comes to our recruitment for 2025 and beyond, we’ll only be looking for options which would further strengthen that core and offer more competition for places.”

Conners added: “Derbyshire is where I grew up as a cricketer and I achieved my dream of representing the county in all formats. But now is the right time to take on a new challenge in a new environment.

“It’s not been an easy decision, and I thank Mickey and the Club for their understanding, as well as the Members and supporters for always cheering me on. Derbyshire will forever hold a place in my heart.”
