Visitor Guide: Fireworks Night & Fun Fair 2024

Derby’s biggest fireworks display returns to The County Ground on Saturday 2 November, with our Fireworks Night & Fun Fair spectacular.

To help plan your night with us, please read the below visitor information to ensure your visit is safe, enjoyable and comfortable.

Tickets – Buy online now to save money & beat the queues

Tickets for this year’s Fireworks Night & Fun Fair will remain on sale online throughout the day on Saturday 2 November.

Please note that ticket prices rise on the day of the event, so visitors are encouraged to purchase in advance to save money and also beat the queues for tickets on the night.

Tickets will be on sale on the gates from 4pm on the day. All on-the-gate sales will be via the Ticket Sales Office (details below) and will be via card/contactless payment only.

Ticket Prices:

On the day (from 00:00 on Saturday 2 November online and on the gates)
Adults – £17
Juniors – £6
Family – Family (2 Adults & up to 2 Juniors) – £40

There will be no ticket collection points on the nightAll tickets are e-tickets, buyers should ensure their QR code is clearly displayed on-screen, to minimise delays. e-Tickets can be displayed on a mobile phone, or printed at home. If you’re having problems with your e-Tickets, please email [email protected] before travelling to the venue.

Please note; to comply with ground regulations, under-14s must be accompanied by an adult. 


Payment Methods – please read

We advise all visitors to bring both card/contactless and cash payment methods on the night.

Fun Fair and Food & Drink – CASH ONLY

The Fun Fair, which is operated by popular fair provider, Mellors Group, will only be able to accept cash. This will include all Fun Fair rides, as well as catering units and bars run by Mellors Group (this will be the majority of refreshment units on the night).

There are no cash machines on site at The County Ground and we advise all visitors to bring sufficient cash with them on the night.

On-the-gate Tickets – Card/Contactless

All on-the-gate ticket sales will be via the main Pavilion Entrance ONLY and the only accepted payment methods are card/contactless (no American Express).

The Boundary Bar – Card/Contactless

The Boundary Bar, located by the main Seat Unique Falcons Stand, which is operated by the Club, will accept card/contactless payment only.

Premier Upgrade – Card/Contactless

All payment terminals in the Pavilion – exclusive to Premier Upgrade guests – will accept card/contactless payment only.


Parking – Sold Out

All official on-site car parking has now sold out.

Visitors with a pre-purchased car park ticket should use the car park stated on their ticket.

Pre-Purchased General Parking
This will be either the Racecourse Car Park (DE21 6AL), or the Pentagon House Car Park (DE21 4XA).

Pre-Purchased Accessible Parking
This will be at The County Ground, off Pentagon Island and as directed by Stewards.

There will be no on-site car parking available on the night without a pre-purchased car park pass for the specific car park printed on the ticket. All car parks will be stewarded.

Please respect our neighbours and do not block access or driveways in nearby streets. A traffic management plan will be in place and we advise visitors arriving by car to park in town and walk to the venue.

We ask that all visitors try and schedule their arrival at the ground, allowing plenty of time.


Public Transport

We recommend visitors who live locally walk to the venue where possible, or make use of the regular bus services which stop directly outside of The County Ground.

Ground Access & Entry

Entry for those with a pre-purchased ticket:

  • via the main Pavilion gates, which can be reached from Pentagon Island and Nottingham Road
  • via the pedestrian gate behind the Ryley Wealth Elite Performance Centre via Grandstand Road

Entry for those wishing to purchase a ticket:

  • purchase entry tickets at the Ticket Sales Office only, which can be reached from Pentagon Island and Nottingham Road

The Club is advising all guests to give plenty of time to arrive and plan their journey in advance. Gates open at 4pm.

How to find us

Good to know

  • We are advising all visitors to give plenty of time to arrive at the ground. Gates open at 4pm
  • All tickets are e-tickets, buyers should ensure their QR code is clearly displayed on-screen, to minimise delays. e-Tickets can be displayed on a mobile phone. If you’re having problems with your e-Tickets, please email [email protected] before travelling to the venue.
  • We recommend wrapping up warm and wearing sensible footwear for the outdoor event
  • Sparklers and fireworks are not permitted to be brought into the venue
  • There are no cash machines on-site.
  • All Under-14s must be accompanied by an Adult aged 18 or above
  • Dogs are not allowed entry
  • There will be a wide range of food stalls and bars around the ground and on the pitch selling everything from hot chocolate and mulled wine, to San Miguel and Draught Guinness, plus a range of soft drinks, as well as low and no alcohol products at all bars
  • Alcohol is not allowed to be brought into the ground
  • No glass or cans are allowed
  • There will be a limited amount of unreserved seating for Fireworks Night & Fun Fair, while a vast amount of standing area with a great view of the fireworks display is also available.
  • The County Ground is a wheelchair accessible venue, with flat ground and ramps allowing access around the ground.

Can I pay on the gate?

Yes, tickets can be purchased at the Ticket Sales Office via the main Pavilion Entrance off Pentagon Island. Ticket prices increase on the day, so we advise buying in advance to save time and money. All on-the-gate ticket sales will be via card/contactless payment only.
Will I need to bring cash?

Derbyshire County Cricket Club advises all visitors to bring cash and cashless methods of payment on the night.

The Club went cashless in 2021, meaning that all ticket entry gates will be card/contactless payment only.

All Fun Fair rides and food units, which are operated by an outside company, are cash only and there are no cash machines on site at The County Ground.
Is there seating available and can I bring my own camping chair?

A limited amount of unreserved seating will be available in the main Seat Unique Falcons Stand directly opposite the fireworks location, to the back of the venue. Visitors are advised to arrive early should they wish to secure a seat. Camping chairs, picnic blankets etc are not permitted for this event.

What happens if it rains?

The display can go ahead in rain, however strict regulations are in place for extreme weather and high winds. In instances of extreme weather, checks will be made on the night before a decision can be made.

Tickets for Fireworks Night & Fun Fair are non-refundable, unless the event is cancelled for weather-related reasons.
Are sparklers allowed?

Fireworks and sparklers are not permitted to be brought into the venue. Bag searches will be in operation.

Will there be music?

A local DJ will be entertaining the crowd with a great music playlist from 4pm until the fireworks begin.

Children under the age of 5 will be granted admission to the event free-of charge and do not require a ticket.

Junior tickets are priced at £5 in advance and apply to 5-15 year olds, increasing to £7 on the day.
