2024 was another remarkable season for County Cricket- however, it wasn’t just the on-field action that was impressive.
The most recent English summer, which already seems so long ago, saw the continued growth, improvement and further diversification of the 18 First Class County live stream products.
10 years ago, the live streaming of the domestic game was not something that had even been contemplated by the majority of the FCCs, but as the 2025 season looms large on the horizon, such streams have become an integral element of the County Cricket experience for Members, supporters and FCC staff alike.
Over the years, live stream production has evolved from an 8am embargo of the previous day’s clips to award winning live multi-camera professional broadcast productions, and 2024 saw a record number of views.
Last summer, more than 30 million views were collectively recorded from the live streams of all 18 First Class Counties.
The progress that has been made in a relatively short space of time is testament to the hard work and dedication of all those working behind the scenes at the 18 First Class Counties and the support that they have received from the ECB.
As the saying goes, mighty oaks from little acorns grow and that has certainly been the case when it comes to the live streaming of the English County game.
Perhaps most importantly thanks must go to the Members and supporters of the 18 County Clubs. Without an audience, there is no product and therefore the viewership and feedback from those at the other end of the broadcast has been crucial to the development and improvement of these productions.
