Derbyshire Falcons Men will face Worcestershire Rapids at Repton School on Friday 15 August, in a Metro Bank One-Day Cup fixture sponsored by Carfulan Group.

The fixture will mark the second occasion that Derbyshire’s first team have played at Repton, and the first since a 1988 Refuge Assurance Sunday League fixture against Middlesex.

One of the most prestigious schools in the country, Repton School has long been a breeding ground for Derbyshire cricketers, from the likes of Donald Carr and Chris Adams to recent Pathway graduates, Harry Moore and Yousaf Bin Naeem. It was also the Club’s training base during the Covid-19 pandemic, with The County Ground being used a bio-secure venue for international cricket.

With home fixtures against Surrey and Essex at The County Ground, as well as a local derby against Nottinghamshire, the Metro Bank One-Day Cup is shaping up to be must-see viewing for any Midlands-based cricket fan this August.

Derbyshire Chief Executive, Ryan Duckett, said: “It’s always exciting when we can take cricket to a venue we don’t play at often and, in Repton School, we have an opportunity to showcase the quality of facilities we have across Derbyshire.

“Our Club and Repton School have a long history which has seen some of our greatest-ever players, and a number of our young prospects, gain their education within its system and now we are able to write a new chapter in our growing partnership.

“Repton School have done an excellent job of hosting Second XI cricket in recent years and we are looking forward to our supporters being able to experience a first team fixture at this historic venue.

“All of our Metro Bank One-Day Cup fixtures will have something different for supporters, with a local derby against Notts Outlaws, a Tap Takeover, a Community Day and our fixture at Repton School all planned for August.”

Mark Semmence, Headmaster of Repton School, added: “We are thrilled to be hosting Derbyshire Falcons’ Men’s Metro Bank One-Day Cup fixture against Worcestershire Rapids at Repton School. This marks the culmination of five years of close collaboration between Repton and Derbyshire County Cricket Club, during which we have been proud to host junior, academy, and 2nd XI fixtures.

“Repton has a rich cricketing heritage, having produced more than 155 first-class cricketers, including three Test captains. Most recently, our own Harry Moore made history as Derbyshire’s youngest-ever debutant at just 16 years of age.

“This fixture is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our shared commitment to nurturing cricketing talent, and we look forward to welcoming players, supporters, and the wider cricketing community to Repton for what promises to be an exciting day of top-class cricket.”

Carfulan Group Managing Directors, Chris and Matt Fulton, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be sponsoring this exciting fixture at Repton School. Supporting Derbyshire-based events is something we’re deeply passionate about, and with cricket so close to our hearts, this was a natural fit. With our own children attending Repton Prep and Carfulan Group’s wider support of the school, this sponsorship felt like a perfect opportunity to champion both sport and education in the community.”
