The sixth game in Derbyshire’s Metro Bank One Day Cup campaign is against Surrey at Derby, the 53rd meeting in one day cricket between the two sides.

Seven of the 52 one day fixtures between these two counties succumbed to the weather with Derbyshire winning 17, Surrey 27 and one tie.
The tied game was in the Refuge Assurance League at The Oval in 1988 when, with Derbyshire still needing 10 runs off the final over with eight wickets down, managed to cobble together nine, including a bye off the last ball, with wicketkeeper Bernie Maher unbeaten on 23.
The teams met three times in knockout matches, Derbyshire winning two of them, one by the margin of 137 runs in the quarter-final of the Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy at Derby in 2003 when Mohammad Kaif top-scored with 81 and Graeme Welch took four wickets for 26 runs.
Derbyshire’s highest score against Surrey is 294 for nine in a losing cause at The Oval in 2013, and Surrey’s top score came at Guildford in 2015 when they totalled 326 for six.
Three players have scored hundreds for Derbyshire against Surrey with Wes Durston’s magnificent 129 at Guildford in 2015 topping the list; the other two centurions were Chris Adams and Adrian Rollins.
For the visitors, there have been nine tons, with the highest score being Steve Davies’ 115 at Guildford in 2015. Surrey’s century-makers include such luminaries as Kumar Sangakkara, Alec Stewart and John Edrich.
With the ball, Derbyshire’s best figures of four for 21 are shared by Keith Stevenson (at Ilkeston in 1976) and Devon Malcolm (at Derby in 1989).
Surrey’s bowlers have taken five wickets in a match on ten occasions with the best of six for 25 by Intikhab Alam at The Oval in 1974.
Peter Bowler is the last Derbyshire player to carry his bat through a completed innings in one day cricket, scoring 76 not out, out of 201 all out against Surrey at Ilkeston in 1993.
