Former Derbyshire opening batsman, Stephen Stubbings, has joined Derbyshire as First XI Support Coach.
Stubbings, an ECB Level 4 Coach, will support Club Captain, Billy Godleman, and provide coaching support to the First XI.
The 38-year-old enjoyed a 13-year playing career at Derbyshire between 1997 and 2009, scoring 7,557 first-class runs in 139 matches. He was capped in 2001 and was twice a winner of the Club’s Player of the Year Award.
Since retiring in 2009, Stubbings has had several coaching roles in the professional game including Second XI coach at Derbyshire and most recently Batting Coach at reigning NatWest T20 Blast champions, Northamptonshire.
Godleman said: “It’s fantastic news to have Steve back at the Club. He’s a Derbyshire man through and through.
“He’s incredibly hard working and has a vast amount of experience of the Club and the game as a coach and a player. He’s enjoyed success in his recent role and we’re delighted to have him on board.
“We’ve got a great group of senior players who have played a lot cricket and Steve will only add to that experience in his new support coach role.”
