Shiv Thakor produced the best performance by a Derbyshire player in 50-overs cricket according to the Professional Cricketers’ Association MVP Rankings when he made his maiden List A century.

Thakor’s 130 against Northants Steelbacks helped Derbyshire chase down a target of 308, the Club’s highest successful run chase in List A cricket.

He was also Derbyshire’s most successful bowler, taking three of their seven wickets, and he ended the match with 43 PCA MVP points, Derbyshire’s best individual performance in 50 overs cricket since the PCA MVP system was introduced in 2007.

The PCA MVP Rankings system identifies the match-winners and key influencers of matches throughout the domestic season.

The formula takes into account conditions, quality of opposition, captaincy and strike-rates as well as runs scored and wickets taken.

Thakor’s match-winning efforts against Northamptonshire took him to ninth place in this season PCA MVP for the 50 overs competition after the first week of matches and also put him in contention for selection for a place in the North side for next year’s North-South Series.

Following this year’s success, the England selectors will again use the Professional Cricketers’ Association Most Valuable Player Rankings to help them pick the squads for the three-match North-Series. Four places in each of the squads will go to the top four England-qualified players in this season’s PCA MVP for the 50 overs competition after the group stages.

Thakor has 48 points in the Royal London One Day Cup rankings table, 16 more than his county captain Billy Godleman who is the county’s next best-placed player in 31st.

Thakor is also Derbyshire’s highest-ranked player in this season’s overall PCA MVP in 36th place with 67 points across all formats with Godleman two places and one point behind him.
