Tahir named in ICC Champions Trophy squad

Imran Tahir has been named in South Africa’s squad for the  ICC Champions Trophy in England and Wales this June.

Tahir enters the tournament following a fine run of form for Rising Pune Supergiant. The 38-year-old is currently ranked as the second highest wicket-taker in the IPL claiming 18 wickets to date at an average of 20.

South Africa will be competing in Group B of the ICC Champions Trophy against Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan. England, Australia, Bangladesh and New Zealand will make up Group A.

South Africa start their campaign against Sri Lanka on Saturday 3 June at The Oval.

Tahir is set to arrive in Derby at the end of June ready the NatWest T20 Blast, which starts on Friday 7 July, and he will be available for the remainder of the season.
