Derbyshire has signed seamer Harry Podmore from Middlesex on an initial 28-day loan.
The 23-year-old will join up with the Derbyshire squad ahead of the Specsavers County Championship match against Durham at Emirates Riverside, starting on Monday 28 August.
A product of the Middlesex Academy, Podmore has made eight first-class appearances, returning 25 wickets at an average of 26, including best figures of 4-54 against Somerset.
Director of Cricket, Kim Barnett, said: “With the return to red ball cricket, the Captain, Vice-Captain and coaching staff felt the squad needed another bowling option.
“Harry comes highly recommended and has performed well in first-class cricket, averaging in the mid-twenties. There is now a lot of competition for places amongst the bowlers heading into a run of four-day matches.”
He added: “Hopefully Harry can learn from the experienced Tony Palladino and Hardus Viljoen during his time with us. The deal will also allow Harry some valuable first team experience and I would like to thank Middlesex and Angus Fraser for allowing him to join us.”
