Derbyshire players took a break from winter training to support a monthly community lunch at the YMCA in Derby.
Daryn Smit and Wayne Madsen were joined by Chairman Ian Morgan and Commercial Director Ryan Duckett in serving the meals and helping with the community event.
The free community meal initiative offers the opportunity for individuals, families, community groups and businesses to come together at the YMCA Campus.
It was set up in partnership between the YMCA and Derby-based charity Head High, as well as other voluntary organisations and businesses, and aims to increase a sense of belonging for those in the local community.
The February meal was run by Upbeat Communities, who provide support to refugees at different stages of their journeys.
Smit said: “It’s great to take a break from a busy training schedule to support the great working going on in Derby, carried out by charities such as Head High and Upbeat Communities.
“Talking to the different groups there today, they all enjoy the community dinners at the YMCA and the chance to get together. Hopefully we will see some familiar faces at The 3aaa County Ground this summer.”

“The energy was incredible and to me it was made even more special by the support shown from Derbyshire Cricket Club who ran up and down enthusiastically serving people with food and bringing a smile to everyone’s face.”
