Matt Critchley will join the North squad for the upcoming North-South series in Barbados this month.
Critchley, who is currently with the England Lions as part of their one-day series vs West Indies A in Antigua, will travel to Barbados this week ahead of the series as an injury replacement for Paul Coughlin.
The 21-year-old all-rounder has had an impressive winter abroad. He hit two centuries for Liverpool-Fairfield in Sydney, scoring 594 runs at an average of 66 in total, as part of his ECB Overseas Placement.
His performances earned him a call up to the England Lions squad earlier this month, becoming the first Derbyshire player to represent an England side since Dominic Cork in 2002.
Providing useful leg spin and powerful lower-order hitting, Critchley finished with figures of 0-41 from eight overs in the first match and contributed 20 with the bat in the second fixture, off 21 balls with one four and one six.
The second North-South Series will be staged in the Caribbean, with the North aiming to bounce back after the South completed a 3-0 whitewash in Dubai and Abu Dhabi last spring.
The first game in the three-match 50-over series takes place on Sunday 18 March, after both sides compete in warm-up matches on Thursday 15 March.
