Derbyshire has signed Nottinghamshire fast bowler Mark Footitt on an initial 28-day loan.
The experienced left-arm quick will be available for both red and white ball cricket during his loan spell, starting with the Specsavers County Championship fixture at Warwickshire tomorrow (Thursday).
The former Derbyshire paceman returns to the county at which he claimed 251 wickets in 64 first-class matches between 2011 and 2015. In his final year with the Club, Footitt took 74 first-class wickets at an average of 24 which earned him a call-up to the England squad for the fourth Ashes Test at Trent Bridge.
In total, the 32-year-old has taken 345 first-class wickets in 92 matches at an average of 26 and with best figures of 7-62. He also featured in 36 List A matches, taking 47 wickets at an average of 29.
Cricket Advisor, Kim Barnett said: “Mark has raw pace and the ability to swing the ball both ways.
“We can offer him first team cricket and as a genuinely quick left-armer, he compliments our bowling unit nicely. He knows the Club really well, so I’m sure he will be able to fit back in quickly.
“We’re grateful to Nottinghamshire and Peter Moores for allowing Mark to join us for this busy period, and I’m sure this arrangement will be good for all parties.”
