Matt Critchley top scored with 40 and Ben Slater hit 37 as the Derbyshire pair represented ECB XI versus India A at Emerald Headingley on Sunday.
The Indians, who face England Lions at The 3aaa County Ground on Friday 22 June, had been due to play Yorkshire, but the ECB put together alternative opposition from county cricket because of the Vikings’ progress in the Royal London One-Day Cup.
India A fielded a team including three players with senior international experience and plenty of others who have made an impact in the Indian Premier League, and they quickly adapted to English conditions to post a total of 328 for eight – then dismissed the ECB XI for 203.
Slater, batting at three, played some of the day’s best shots in making 37 from 38 balls, including six fours and one six, before he edged Vijay Shankar behind.
That turned out to be the second top score of the innings, behind county teammate Matt Critchley, who was ninth out for 40 which included four fours.
India A now face Worcestershire at Blackfinch New Road on Tuesday before the first match of the Tri-Series against the Lions at The 3aaa County Ground in Derby on Friday.
