Daryn Smit hit 104 to put Derbyshire in a good position on Day Two of the Second XI three-day friendly against Glamorgan at Belper Meadows CC.
Smit registered a ton to help Derbyshire add 175 runs to their overnight tally, while Charlie Hartley took three wickets in Glamorgan’s reply to reduce the visitors to 175-7 at the close of play.
Resuming on 203-6, Smit was joined at the crease by Anoop Chima as the pair combined for an 86-run partnership to accelerate the hosts on to 270-6 before the latter fell for 35.
Will Davis (37) also came together to form another strong partnership with Smit worth 83 runs before the wicket-keeper batsman eventually fell for 104 as Derbyshire ended on a total of 378.
Derbyshire started strongly with the ball, as Hartley removed both openers Lorenzo Machado (10) and Harry Allen (3) cheaply to reduce Glamorgan to 18-2 in the ninth over.
The visitors continued to lose wickets at regular intervals as Matt McKiernan also claimed the wickets of Jeremy Lawlor (31) and Aneurin Donald (23) as Glamorgan slipped to 104-5.
Graham Wagg came to the crease to provide some resistance as he remains unbeaten on 58. Glamorgan finished on 175-7 to lead by just seven runs with three wickets in hand at the end of day two.
