It’s now less than 24 hours until Cricket Derbyshire Foundation’s T20 Walkathon, so here are some friendly tips to help get you prepared.
The walk is a challenging 20 miles long so walkers will warm up before setting off. This is the second twenty-mile walk that the foundation has ran and over 50 walkers are expected to take part.
Walkers are reminded to bring plenty of sunscreen, drink lots of water and wear a hat. Strong, comfortable and “worn in” shoes are also recommended for the walk.
The T20 Walkathon will see fundraisers walk 20 miles from Trent Bridge, Nottingham, to The 3aaa County Ground, Derby, on Friday 13 July ahead of the Vitality Blast derby between Derbyshire Falcons and Notts Outlaws (7pm start, approx. 9.45pm finish).
The route will follow roadside, riverside and cycle paths throughout its duration and has no great declines or ascensions.
The safety of the route is a main priority and thanks to the help of Derby College and Mobile Solutions, there will be a team of marshals to keep walkers safe on key road crossings.
These marshals will be connected with radios, which have been kindly donated by Mobile Solutions of Derby.
