Paceman Alfie Gleadall will miss the rest of the 2018 season due to a lower back stress fracture.
The Cricket Derbyshire Academy in partnership with the University of Derby graduate made his first-class debut for the Club at Durham in June, before joining up with England Under-19s for the Youth Test series against South Africa in early July.
The quick took three wickets on his England Under-19s debut, but suffered a lumber spine (lower back) stress fracture during the match. This is a recurrence of the injury the 18-year-old suffered towards the end of the 2017 season and he will now miss the rest of the current season.
Derbyshire Lead Physiotherapist, Fran Clarkson, has given a full update on injuries within the squad.
Luis Reece
Reece suffered a broken metatarsal in his right foot during the Royal London One-Day Cup match against Yorkshire Vikings at the end of May.
Since then he has undergone successful surgery and begun a structured and tailored recovery process. Having completed several stages of the recovery process, the Club continues to assess the 27-year-old and remain hopeful that he will be able to return to the field before the end of the season.
Will Davis
Davis sustained an ankle impingement and is currently undergoing rehabilitation. His recovery includes strength work and he will be running and bowling as the injury settles.
James Taylor
Taylor sustained a stress response to his tibia (shin), and although not as serious a stress fracture, he has been forced to miss a period of cricket in the last couple of months.
He is currently completing his return to bowl programme and is expected to be available for selection in the coming weeks.
