Supporters can now vote for the Showcase Cinema de Lux Player of the Month for July.
Each month this season, supporters can cast their vote for their Player of the Month, with voting taking place on the Club’s official Twitter account; @DerbyshireCCC.
For the month of July, we have selected four nominees; Calum MacLeod, Matt Critchley, Lockie Ferguson and Wayne Madsen.
The month included eight Vitality Blast matches and one Specsavers County Championship fixture.
Calum MacLeod
The opening batsman became just the third Derbyshire batsman to score a Twenty20 century in the game against Northants, and in his 104 he registered the Club’s second highest individual score in the format.
His powerful innings, off just 61 balls, with 13 fours and four sixes, kick-started a run of four straight Vitality Blast wins for the Falcons in the race for a quarter-final spot.
The 29-year-old is the Club’s leading run-scorer with 280 runs at an average of 31 and a strike rate of 134.
Matt Critchley
The young all-rounder enjoyed a prolific July, contributing two match-winning performances, with both the red and white ball.
An all-format player, Critchley claimed a career-best 6-106 in the Specsavers County Championship win over Northamptonshire at Queen’s Park, to return match figures of 10-194 and spin Derbyshire to victory.
He followed up this performance with a match-winning end of innings contribution against Yorkshire Vikings, again on his Club ground, in the Vitality Blast. He struck 38 not out off 17 deliveries, including 22 off the final over to power Derbyshire to victory against the odds.
In total, the 21-year-old has 138 Vitality Blast runs and four wickets, with best figures of 2-15.
Lockie Ferguson
The fierce quick has made an instant impact since joining the Club as overseas fast bowler for the Vitality Blast season.
Clocked at 95mph in the game at Wantage Road, Ferguson has tormented batsmen throughout the short-format campaign and is currently the Falcons’ leading wicket-taker with 14 at an average of 15.85.
The New Zealand international has also been economical, going at less than seven runs per over often bowling in the powerplay.
Wayne Madsen
Wayne Madsen has picked up where he left off in last summer’s Twenty20 tournament and already has three half-centuries to his name for the Falcons.
Striking at 144, the 34-year-old has hit 268 runs in nine matches, at an average of 38.28 and a top-score of 76 not out against Lancashire Lightning.
He was instrumental in the win over Yorkshire at Headingley, crashing 66 off just 28 balls in Derbyshire’s 77-run win.
In the brief return to red ball cricket amidst the Vitality Blast matches, Madsen hit a fine 116, including 14 fours, as Derbyshire ran out 39-run winners at Chesterfield.
