Kirby appointed Assistant & Bowling Coach
The 41-year-old former fast bowler, who claimed 797 wickets during a 12-year professional career, joins the Club from his role as Head Coach of the MCC.
Kirby will work with Head of Cricket David Houghton and Head of Development Mal Loye across all levels of cricket at Derbyshire, including the development pathway.
He will join up with the Derbyshire squad when they return to training in early November and is already looking forward to the new challenge.
He said: “This is now an exciting new opportunity back in the county game and I’m looking forward to working with Dave, Mal and all the guys at Derbyshire.”

Madsen to work with Cricket Scotland
Recently qualified as an ECB Level 4 Coach, Wayne Madsen will spend three days this week in Edinburgh as a guest coach working with Scotland’s elite performance squads.
The 34-year-old, who scored 1,575 runs across all forms in a standout summer for Derbyshire, has been selected by Cricket Scotland’s acting Head Coach Toby Bailey at the start of their winter programme.
Speaking to Cricket Scotland, Madsen said: “I am really excited to be working with such a talented group of players.
“The game in Scotland has made huge strides on the back of the national team’s success in recent years and having played with Calum [MacLeod] and Safy [Sharif] at Derbyshire, I’ve seen first-hand the skill, passion and desire that this group of players have.
“I look forward to adding my experience to the National and Performance Squads and assisting the players to improve and achieve their full potential.”
