Get off the mark this week with quick-fire stories to keep you up to date with the latest news from Derbyshire.
The start of the season may be almost six months away, but with 2019 Club Membership on sale and the Derbyshire squad back in training, there are plenty of reasons to be looking ahead to next summer’s cricket.
Players return to training
The Derbyshire squad return to training today to begin an intense pre-Christmas strength and conditioning regime.
With a detailed programme put in place by Strength & Conditioning Coach, Jonty Norris, and Lead Physiotherapist, Fran Clarkson, the players will focus on fitness before turning their attention to more skills-based training in the New Year.
Today also marks Steve Kirby’s first day in his new role as Assistant & Bowling Coach. He will work closely with Head of Cricket, Dave Houghton, and Head of Development, Mal Loye, across all areas of cricket within the Club.
Counties agree to domestic structure changes
Last week it was announced that the 18 first-class Counties have agreed to a number of proposals which will bring around changes to the men’s domestic structure from 2020 onwards.
These proposals followed the appointment in the summer of the Men’s Domestic Playing Programme group (MDDP), chaired by Leicestershire chief executive Wasim Khan and drawn from different sections of the men’s county game and ECB.
