Nathan Rimmington is looking forward to coming up against two Australian compatriots as Derbyshire Falcons take on Yorkshire Vikings in the NatWest T20 Blast at Chesterfield tomorrow (2.30pm start), sponsored by BRM Solicitors.

Opening batsman Aaron Finch and big-hitting all-rounder Glenn Maxwell will line up for Yorkshire in the final game of this year’s Autoworld Volvo XC90 Chesterfield Festival of Cricket, in association with Chesterfield Borough Council.

Finch is the captain of the Melbourne Renegades in Australia’s Big Bash competition, with Rimmington a key component in that side, while the specialist death-bowler has also come up against the flamboyant Maxwell on a number of occasions.

“I’m coming up against my two Aussie mates, Finch and Maxwell, so it should be a good challenge to bowl at them on a small ground with a quick outfield,” said Rimmington.

“Finchy is the captain of the Renegades in the Big Bash so I know him well and hopefully I have bowled enough against him in the nets to know his strengths and weaknesses. When he’s on it, he can have his day, so I am going to have to bowl really well to him.

“Maxwell is a class player, he has performed at international level for a couple of years now, and we’ve got to be right on our game against him. He’s the sort of player that hit can hit shots 360 degrees, so it can be sometimes hard to set a field to.

“There is not much margin for error on grounds like this, so you have to be pretty much spot on with the execution of your bowling. As well as Finch and Maxwell, they’ve got some high class players throughout the team and we need to be ready for them.

“I’ve heard the Yorkshire game will be pretty packed and they will have a lot of supporters down here. I am sure it will be a good atmosphere no matter who turns up.”

“The NatWest T20 Blast been good fun although some of the performances haven’t gone my way or for the team, so we’re looking at putting some good performances together for the last couple of games and finish on a good note.”
