Matt Critchley struck an unbeaten 79 before Derbyshire took five wickets on a close Day Three of the Specsavers County Championship game against Durham.
Critchley top-scored as Derbyshire posted 268 for their first innings, leaving Durham with a lead of 25 at Emirates Riverside.
Ravi Rampaul (3-39) claimed three wickets, while Luis Reece took a further two for 17 runs before bad light stopped play. Alex Lees (63*) and Ned Eckersley (33*) added 63 runs after play resumed, and will return to the crease to begin Day Four on 160-5, leading by 185.
