Derbyshire and Glamorgan played out a draw in a rain-affected Specsavers County Championship game at Swansea.

Billy Godleman took his score to a career-best 227 and Harvey Hosein hit an unbeaten 91 as Derbyshire declared on 598-5, with a lead of 204.

Half-centuries from Marnus Labuschagne (83) and Nick Selman (70 not out) took Glamorgan to 184-2 when the handshakes came, the game ending in a draw and Derbyshire taking 13 points.

For the fourth-successive day, play was delayed by weather conditions in Swansea, with rain affecting the start of each morning of the match. The first ball on the final afternoon was bowled at 2.55pm, the start of 76 scheduled overs.

Godleman resumed on a career-best score of 211 not out, and he was joined at the crease by the similarly unbeaten Harvey Hosein, who was on 53 with Derbyshire’s lead standing at 110.

Having brought up his half-century in the final over of Day Three, Hosein got the ball rolling with the first run of the afternoon when he took a single off Lukas Carey.

Godleman added  16 to his overnight score before he was trapped lbw by Carey for a career-best score of 227, with Derbyshire’s lead standing at 135.

Matt Critchley joined Hosein at the crease and began scoring steadily, scoring 17 runs from 23 balls before dispatching Marnus Labuschagne for a four and a six in consecutive deliveries.

From there, the pair accelerated and pushed the lead beyond 200 runs in the 131st over, adding a further four runs before Derbyshire declared on 598-5 with Hosein finishing the innings unbeaten on 91.

The sixth-wicket partnership between Hosein and Critchley stood at 69 runs when the declaration came, Derbyshire’s fourth fifty-plus partnership of the innings.

Glamorgan started their second innings 204 runs behind, with the opening pair of Nick Selman and Charlie Hemphrey looking to score positively.

The duo scored 24 runs from the first five overs that Derbyshire bowled, and went on to compile 30 runs for the first wicket before Hemphrey left a ball from Ravi Rampaul which nipped back and hit the off-stump.

Marnus Labuschagne arrived at the crease and the quick scoring continued, with Selman bringing up his half-century in 56 balls, including nine fours.

The pair then passed 100 in their second-wicket partnership, while Labuschagne also made it to fifty. He struck eight fours and one six to arrive at the milestone in 51 deliveries.

The Australia all-rounder fell for 83 when he was stumped by Hosein off the bowling of Alex Hughes, with Glamorgan still trailing by 31.

The captains shook hands to confirm the draw after 40 overs of the Glamorgan innings, bringing an end to an exciting, yet rain-affected four days in Swansea.
