Australia fast bowler Billy Stanlake has been ruled out of this summer’s Vitality Blast with Derbyshire through injury.
Head of Cricket, Dave Houghton, said: “It’s a disappointment to lose Billy [Stanlake]. He’s the second overseas signing we’ve lost ahead of the competition and it’s a blow, we can’t hide from that.
“With the international calendar how it is this summer, the pool of quality overseas is smaller than usual, and we’ve been unfortunate to miss out on two players who have fitted in with what we wanted.
“We’ve got a tight-knit group of players and they know that they’ll get their opportunities this season.
“We’ll keep pushing the whole squad and if the right player becomes available between now and the tournament, we’ll take a look at them.”
