Local Derbyshire-based businesses have thrown their support behind the #WereBackingTheBid campaign helping to raise over 30% of the Club’s target.
At the start of April, the Club formally announced its intention to bid for Derby to become a host city for the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup.
As part of the announcement made by Chief Executive Simon Storey, the Club unveiled plans for a landmark set of giant cricket stumps to be located at the gateway of the City on the Pentagon Roundabout.
Briggs of Burton, specialists in stainless steel, have already offered to manufacturer the stumps and Idom Merebrook have offered to provide engineering consultancy services for the project.
The stumps will be funded by 100 local businesses together with a small number of private donors who will each pledge £500 to become part of the #WereBackingTheBid campaign and be involved in the development, unveiling and publicity surrounding the sculpture as well as featuring on the Commemorative Plaque.
And the Club has already received significant interest from businesses across Derbyshire wanting to lend their support to help bring international cricket to the county. The Club’s Principal Partners, 3aaa – Aspire, Achieve, Advance, and Marketing Derby have both already signed up alongside over 20 other businesses, all will be announced over the coming days.
