Scott Elstone scored 106 from 113 balls as Derbyshire Second XI ran out seven-wicket winners over Glamorgan in a three-day friendly at The 3aaa County Ground.
Glamorgan declared on 288-4 during the afternoon session to set their hosts 270 to win with only three-and-a-half hours of play remaining.
The fairly sizable total was met thanks largely to the efforts of Elstone who was captain for the day whilst there were also more than useful runs for trialist R Singh.
Derbyshire struggled somewhat in the morning session to take wickets but Harry White finished with 1-42, Ben Cotton with 1-52 and David Wainwright picked up 1-57.
Dan Housego starred for Glamorgan and carried his bat to finish unbeaten on 138 in his side’s 288-4 while William Vandespar hit 42 and AG Milton was not out on 53 when they decided to declare.
In reply, Elstone and Singh shared a 100-run partnership for the second wicket to put their side in the hunt before Elstone advanced his score past three-figures alongside Tom Wood.
Elstone eventually fell for 106 and it was left to Wood and Tom Knight to hit the winning runs and finish unbeaten on 27 and 22 respectively.
