Billy Godleman struck 111 on Day One of the Specsavers County Championship game against Lancashire at Emirates Old Trafford.

The Derbyshire captain top-scored as the visitors managed 244 in their first innings, despite Richard Gleeson claiming 5-64 for the hosts in Manchester.

Ravi Rampaul struck before the end of the day to leave Lancashire 20-1 at stumps, with Keaton Jennings (12 not out) and Josh Bohannon (4 not out) set to resume on Day Two, trailing by 224.

Still buoyed by the euphoria of securing a spot at Finals Day, Derbyshire elected to bat first in Manchester, and the opening pairing of Billy Godleman and Luis Reece showed the kind of positive batting that has led them to the final four, scoring 40 runs from the first ten overs.

The duo brought up their half-century in the 15th over, before Reece (20) was caught by Dane Vilas off Glenn Maxwell in the 21st over.

Godleman reached 50 shortly before lunch, with the milestone coming in 75 balls and including eight fours. He and Wayne Madsen put on 41 for the second-wicket before the latter was trapped lbw by Richard Gleeson for 27.

After the interval, Leus du Plooy managed just two runs before he was bowled by Gleeson, who then had Alex Hughes caught behind without scoring soon after.

Harvey Hosein also fell for nought when he was trapped lbw by Gleeson, who claimed his fourth wicket, and third in just five overs after lunch.

Despite the wicket of Matt Critchley (22), Godleman continued to score and reached his century in 180 balls, including 15 fours and one six before tea.

A quickfire double from Saqib Mahmood saw Godleman (111) and Dal (0) fall in consecutive deliveries, before Ravi Rampaul (14) and Hamidullah Qadri (17 not out) put on 29 for the final wicket as Derbyshire were dismissed for  244.

Rampaul was once again in the action as he had Alex Davies (4) caught by Wayne Madsen before the end of the day, which Lancashire ended 20-1, with Jennings (12*) and Bohannon (4*) to resume tomorrow.
