All-rounder Alex Hughes is looking forward to a maiden Finals Day appearance which comes as a reward for improvements in Derbyshire’s white ball performances.

The 27-year-old has been with the club since his teens and now gets the opportunity to step out onto the field at Edgbaston for the domestic season’s showpiece event, knowing the Falcons are an in-form team in white ball cricket.

“Everyone’s just really excited about the prospect of playing in Finals Day – excitement is the overriding feeling.

“Over the past couple of years, we’ve been a good side in white ball cricket, but not quite made the finals. We’re confident in how we’ve grown as a team and a lot of pride with how far we’ve come.

“It’s just another game of cricket. They’re a very good side, with very good players and we know we have to bring our A-game.”

Finals Day! Derbyshire reach their first Vitality Blast Finals Day on Saturday 21 September. They take on Essex Eagles in the second semi-final at Edgbaston. Good luck, lads!
